Just a little website put together for the Coptic celebration of Christmas, consisting mainly of some photographs of the monasteries of St Paul and St Anthony in Egypt’s fabulous Eastern Desert.  Coptic New Year falls on a different date to that of the West, due to the use of two different calendars.

These photographs were all taken in November 2006. Click on the Photo Gallery link in the navigation bar (left) to see the pictures, and then click on the thumbnail to see the big image.  You will need to look at the St Anthony’s and then the St Paul’s images separately.

The site will eventually be accompanied by a few short historical notes about the background of the saints concerned, relevant aspects of the Coptic religion, and details of the monasteries themselves.
